So Where Has Metamorphyx Been for the Last Two Years?
Yes, Metamorphyx went voiceless for nearly eighteen months while daughter Caroline fought a medical crisis after a flawed surgery. And then things intensified last year with my elderly parents. My Dad passed away in January 2024 (at age 97) and my Mom just knocked out her 98th birthday, albeit in frail health. Yikes! These long-life genes in the Schuler family are a bit frightening . . . but the Good Lord, working through my Mom’s journey, has healed some relational scars in my family . . . story for another time.
But alongside these challenging months, I’ve been itching to re-engage with blogs and commentary on life experience, life change, and life purpose. There’s always purposefulness in suffering and trials. These last two years are no exception!
Take a quick minute and check out the new Metamorphyx web site (www.Metamorphyx.com). It’s refreshed, easy to navigate, and has some lively graphics. In the months to come, I’m eager to write new blogs and re-post some of the more popular old ones from the past.
I think you’ll enjoy where Metamorphyx is headed, but if you’re exasperated with one more uninvited email in your inbox, I get it! You can always Unsubscribe . . . or just send me a “No thanks!” and I’ll take you off my subscriber list.
Here’s that “glint” of where Metamorphyx is headed in the months to come. My good friend, Arch, has been teaching this old dog some AI tricks. No joke! So, I downloaded ChatGPT and asked it this question, “What is Metamorphyx?” . . . and this is what “it” said. Not too bad for a brainless algorithm hugger!!
“Metamorphyx is a term coined by Thomas M. Schuler that encapsulates the idea of undergoing a profound, transformative journey in life. It suggests that by embracing your experiences and the inevitable changes life brings, you can transform those challenges into a meaningful and purposeful existence. Essentially, Metamorphyx is about harnessing the power of change and personal growth to discover and live out your true purpose.”
And here’s what I say. Metamorphyx shepherds and directs a life that is lived for the glory of God in a thousand applications (Mat 6:19, 21, 23). It’s a life that listens and responds to God’s Call (John 10:27; Isa 6:8). It’s a life in which God’s work in us before he works through us to others. That usually entails transformational life change (Romans 12:2), utilization of our gifts and passions (Col 3:23-24), and the “fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22-23) in our lives.
Beyond that, Metamorphyx embraces three foundational Tenets of Life Purpose: First, am I surrendered to God’s purposes and leaning into life change (Romans 8:28-29)? Second, am I exhibiting a working faith (
James 2:18; 26)? And third, am I a life learner and standing firm in my faith (2 Peter 3:18, Eph 6:10-17)?
So that’s the “glint” that the amorphous ChatGPT points to. I’ll flesh out the details with future blogs and commentary on the Metamorphyx web page as we chase that spiritual wisdom.
Hope you’ll join me on the journey. If you have any feedback or questions, by all means, let me know.
Shalom,
Tom Schuler
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2).
P.S. This is my first post on a new web site platform. No doubt there will be glitches I’ll need to correct.
